History of On Course Foundation
ON
COURSE FOUNDATION USA LAUNCHED IN 2013.
John Simpson visited the British defense medical rehabilitation
center at Headley Court in 2009. Moved
by what he saw and heard, he founded On Course Foundation.
His interactions with patients who were amputees and those who suffered from
PTSD resonated with his life experiences.
As a child, John contracted polio and, as a result, has only one fully
functioning leg. Playing golf since the
age of 14 helped him successfully overcome life challenges.
John’s business career in golf is also admirable. Right out of university, he approached International
Management Group Founder and sports marketing guru Mark McCormack who was agent
to Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player. John got the job at IMG and quickly rose the
ranks to eventually manage business affairs for Nick Faldo, Vijay Singh,
Bernhard Langer, Nick Price and Greg Norman.
All this was the genesis of the charity and
John set out to formalize the organization. His aim was to create a charity (On
Course Foundation) to offer injured Service members and Veterans the
opportunity to participate in golf on a level playing field with everyone else,
either as a player or through employment in the golf industry.
Motivated by the more than three million injured and sick veterans
in America today, On Course Foundation conducts events in 15 major
markets. Employment opportunities with Topgolf Callaway
Brands, TaylorMade, Invited, TPC Network, Landscapes Unlimited and similar
employers await OCF members.
