The On Course Foundation is led by a devoted Board of Directors.


The Board meets regularly and guides our dedicated team who carries activities and programs of the organization.

  • John Simpson
    • FOUNDER AND CHAIRMAN OF BOARD


      In 1978, John Simpson joined international management group (IMG) – the largest sports marketing, entertainment and media company in the world for the past 30 years. As Senior Vice President, John managed elite sportsmen such as Nick Faldo, Bernhard Langer, Greg Norman, Vijay Singh and Lord Sebastian Coe.

      In 1997 John left IMG and founded John Simpson Associates (JSA) which specializes in creating and managing international events, licensing and brand development, golf course development and design, client management and commercial consultancy. 

  • George Napier
    • BOARD MEMBER


      George’s 40 year business track record spans the globe and features buyouts, mergers, restructurings and turnarounds, in private and public companies, in the sports industry. Between 1983 and 2012 he held leadership positions with Wilson Sporting Goods, Meridian Sports, RockShox, Benetton SportSystem, Prince Sports and Titleist. This was preceded by formative experience in product management roles at Colgate Palmolive and Nabisco. George is currently with Merryck & Co, mentoring senior executives. He also serves on 3 Advisory Boards, 2 start ups, and a luxury menswear brand. He and his amazing wife Arabella are the proud parents of 3 boys and live in the San Francisco area.

  • General (Ret) David McKiernan
    • BOARD MEMBER


      General McKiernan was born in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from the College of William & Mary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history in 1972, commissioned on active duty in the US Army where he served for 37 years. He holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Shippensburg University and an honorary doctorate in public service from the College of William & Mary.

      GEN McKiernan commanded at every level from 2d Lieutenant to 4-Star General. He served in Korea, Germany, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the United States. Senior level commands included all coalition land forces that attacked into Iraq in 2003 and removed Saddam Hussein from power (OIF 1), all US Army Europe forces from 2005-8, and all NATO and US forces in Afghanistan from 2008-9 (OEF).

      Following retirement in 2009, General McKiernan serves on various board positions, still trains and mentors Army leaders, and advises multiple veterans' organizations pro bono. He is delighted to serve on the Board of Trustees for the On Course Foundation, and remains a lifelong student of golf.

      GEN (Ret) McKiernan and his wife, Carmen, reside in Marblehead MA. They have three grown children (two of which serve as Captains in the US Army) and two grandchildren.

  • David McCreery
    • Board Member


      David McCreery was an investment banker for thirty five years, most recently having headed HSBC’s industrial sector investment banking activities for the Americas. He began his career with the First Boston Corporation in its M&A department in New York City in 1985 and was transferred to Tokyo in 1987. He was subsequently recruited to be Wasserstein Perella’s first employee in Tokyo. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1991 he began to focus on the industrial space and subsequently held senior positions at Morgan Stanley and UBS prior to joining HSBC in 2013. His clients throughout comprised large public companies In the industrial space well as leading private equity firms.

      David attended Harvard College graduating in 1985 with an A.B. In the Comparative Study of Religion. He maintains his connection with Harvard as a member of the Dean’s Council of Harvard Divinity School. He and his wife Liz have three adult daughters. They divide their time between New York City and East Hampton, NY. David chaired the 2018 Simpson Cup committee at the Maidstone Club. In his spare time he enjoys golf and bridge.
